Intense emotional relaxation.

As a product of our existing social and political environments several people experience intense emotions. Not only in our regular newspapers, but on my Facebook feed and conversations with peers I've seen it as well. I often heard rumbling and calls for names in areas like church and other meetings in the neighborhood. No matter what side of the fence you're on. People are in pain and everywhere they go, their conflicting and strong feelings spill. All from slight irritation to anger, and from fear to hysteria, are indicators of being in the response to stress. I don't believe any of us in our lives like, or need more work. Which, then, can we do? How can we be freed from those intense emotions?

Next, Immediate Risk Let me make one point clear. If a hazard is immediate it is important to know that you are not going to have a choice. The brain and your body will do all they can to keep you out of trouble-automatically! Trust in that. It does work. You don't have to spend your life getting ready for a catastrophic event. Trying to live in a high-alert environment is not only a waste of energy but it is also dangerous. Luckily we will gain more insight and understanding towards our emotions. It is really the only way of preventing them from getting hijacked.

Changes in Chemistry I think that many people still don't understand how easy it is to cause a change in the chemistry of our bodies. It takes only the slightest change in our perception to cause a shift from homeostasis to reaction to stress. It is necessary then to keep in mind that under the slightest provocation our chemistry shifts. It doesn't have to be real, either. Our brain reacts to our ideas and creativity in the same way as it does to reality. By consuming too much, trying to get stuff finished or looking too far into the future, we can alter our chemistry.

In the other hand, we will decrease our blood pressure, minimize discomfort, control stress and gain more trust as we are conscious of our abilities to adjust our chemistry. The next step towards increasing our knowledge and consciousness is to tuning in and improving this capacity. Luckily it is a talent that can be learned by anyone.

Shock and fear Emotions such as anxiety or distress are intended to be acute and not a way of life. "These are cues that help us respond to a physical threat." (Karla McLaren) The same reaction is not caused by other feelings such as fear and anger. Alternatively, any emotion emerges for a very particular reason. "Fear allows one to maintain our knowledge relaxed and centered. Anger lets us perceive and react to boundary breaches from the outer environment. "(Karla McLaren) The intent and strength of our different emotional states vary greatly. The openness to the disparity is what makes one lead a better existence.

We also become reactive as strong feelings galvanize our focus. The primary objective then moves from the link and collaboration to the basic selection of methods for protecting ourselves. (Our speech, point of view, place, internal limits or self-image.) It's myopic, not communal. If we sense our attention narrows protective, we check, evaluate, look for what is incorrect and make fast conclusions. It's simple to misinterpret the rush of feelings that one gets from this answer as being more strong, but that doesn't imply that a person is thinking and behaving in a way that is in the long-term interest of their own or of others.

Four Minutes Not A Way of Life The solution to stress is only supposed to last four minutes. Days and years, not hours. It makes total sense, aren't they? Four minutes is just the period that we usually have to get out of the way of damage. That is all it wants to do. Ironically, many people are living their daily lives in a constant state of distress, without ever having to face immediate and imminent danger.

If we underestimate our level of risk, it endangers our well-being, individually and collectively. Which value is life in a protective state? If we're busy transforming us into our enemies, how can we connect? Sadly, not everyone knows the cumulative impact of being "stressed, frustrated or afraid." Neither does everyone know how to change from such states until they understand it. Happily, it's important to understand how to step out of such strong emotional situations. All can learn to be effective interpreters of their feelings. I consider Karla McLaren's research immensely beneficial in making this possible.
